A grim report says over 900 dead and 3,800 missing in Tokyo, a stark reminder of the chaos surrounding them.
Denji then heads to the kitchen and calls Yoru “the most dangerous chick yet” while telling Pochita about his complicated feelings. He makes potstickers for breakfast. Yoru wakes up and joins him, the body of the restaurant owner she killed the day before is still on the ground, a reminder of the world they live in.
The Park Meeting: A Desperate Situation
The scene shifts to a park where Hirofumi Yoshida, Fumiko Mifune, and the Famine Devil, Fami, are sitting on a bench. Despite the stakes Fami says no, she has a school festival to pray for Tokyo’s revival. This festival is not on the same day as the Death Devil’s arrival, so Fami’s priorities are elsewhere.
Fumiko is frustrated with Fami’s refusal, emphasizing the consequences of inaction. Yoshida tries to bargain, offering to send someone in Fami’s place, but she won’t budge, she values her friendships and the fun of planning the festival. Fami is nonchalant about the impending doom, she likes experiences and connections more than the threat.
Denji and Yoru's Escapades
Back to Denji and Yoru, the chapter showcases their chaotic antics as Yoru blows up buildings left and right and Denji is just enjoying himself. Their banter is interrupted when Yoru stops and calls out Denji’s name and the tension is palpable. The chapter ends with a bang: Asa regains control of her body and points a gun at Denji and all he can say to Pochita is “I told you so” foreshadowing the upcoming battle.
